Freshly Made Sketches #519, Colour Throwdown #676

I have two cards for you today, both made using stamps from Creative Stamping Magazine issue 104.  They are an elegant oriental theme.

I am playing along with two card challenges today. I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #519 for the layout of the card and the colours were from Color Throwdown 676

I stamped and heat embossed the lanterns and happiness symbol using gold embossing powder and then used the embossed resist technique to colour the background red.  I used distress oxide inks and then wiped off the excess ink with a soft cloth.

I mounted the square topper on ivory card which was then layered onto a gold mat layer before being attached to the top folding card base.  To finish the card I stamped the sentiment below the topper and added a few gold sequins for an extra sparkle.

I enjoyed making this card so much that I made a second one using the bonsai tree stamp.  I love the simple elegance of these cards.

Check out the great cards the design teams have made for both these challenges as well as all the other entries in the challenges.

Thank you for stopping by today.

Happy crafting

Love Dawn xx
