Spring is in the air this week over at the Color Throwdown with the challenge to use green, yellow, blue and white in a card design. I love colour challenges as you can make so many different styles using the same colour combination. I made three cards this week all completely different.
The first card I made was using a geometric stencil background on a white card and using the three colours to form diagonal stripes across the card. I then filled in the white space with die cut cogs and circles in shades on green, yellow and blue.
To add further interest I die cut a small rectangle from the middle of the card and raised it up on foam tape before putting it back into position. The sentiment across the panel finished this card. I think it would be a perfect masculine or teenager card.
The background for card number two was made by layering ink onto an acetate sheet and then pressing the cardstock into it. I like the texture of the background. I thought it looked a bit like a river bank so added the heron stamp in black ink. I layered the card onto a blue card base and added a few clear gems for a bit of sparkle. A simple but effective card.
My third and final card became part of a set of four mini notecards but this was the only one that had all four colours on it. The card was inspired by the stickers I recently purchased from Lillbit Creations. The little hedgehog with his dandelion is just so cute.. Look out for a post on my blog in the next few weeks with more cards using this little chap.
I loved joining in with this challenge and the variety of cards I was inspired to make.
Check out all the wonderful makes from the design team over at The Color Throwdown as well as the other fabulous entries.
Thank you for stopping by and let me know in the comments below which of the three cards you like the best.
